An update regarding my 23rd birthday will follow soon, but first...

For some reason, Requiem for a Dream has been on my mind lately. Don't really know why. Maybe cause I like Jared Leto (one of the leading roles, also lead singer of 30 Seconds to Mars, my favorite band).

For anyone who hasn't seen this movie, I strongly recommend it. However, I do warn you: it's hard to sit through. And considering I can stomach almost anything in a movie, that says a lot. There isn't a lot of blood and gore or anything in the movie, but it is the story itself that makes the movie difficult to handle, however, the message is one of the most powerful I have seen in a film.

Requiem for a Dream follows four individuals and their desire for fulfilling their dreams. Their lives are all ruined in separate ways due to their addictions to heroin, cocaine and diet pills. I'll be honest. This movie can get pretty graphic, and breaks my heart. But the message in it is so powerful that I definitely think it should be shown to high schoolers or young teenagers before they think of using drugs.

I have a few minutes before leaving work so I thought I'd do a quick note.

I'm asking that you please keep the students of Berea College in your prayers. Two nights ago, a sophmore, Zachary Sieben passed away. The cause of death hasn't been released to us yet, and his family came into town today to take care of everything.
I wasn't really friends with Zack, but he was a janitor in my previous dorm. Overall students on campus seem to be doing well and a memorial for him has been set up in one of our chapels. There is a facebook group in memory of him as well.

I don't even know where to begin.

Things have been incredibly busy. Finals are this week, and thankfully, I only have two. I also have two papers due this week, one of which is my senior research paper which is taking up most of my time and brainpower but is coming along nicely.

I'll be back in Detroit by Thursday evening, which I am SO excited about. I can't wait to be home and just spend the first few days decompressing, getting berea (and life) out of my system. *sigh* It will be marvelous.

Until then, it's back to studying and writing these papers, which just might be the death of me ;)

Singer Pink attacked Sarah Palin on the radio (Channel 955—Detroit) saying that she probably couldn't find Iraq on a map. The DJs then asked her if SHE knew which countries bordered Iraq. Her response, "Uhh. Afghanistan." When they told her she was wrong, her response was, "Oh, well f*ck it then." I love arrogant and ignorant celebs who run their mouths when they really don't know anything at all.

We had our homecoming game the other night, and I had a BLAST. I spent all day with some freakin awesome people, and we even painted shirts for the games, both of which Berea won!!! (Yes, both the males and females... shocking, I know)... Not that I actually have pride in my college or anything, but it was a fun night.

Things are going great with Kim (the roommate). She's the best I've ever had. In the past 4 ½ years of college, I've had I think about 23 roommates and/or suitemates (This is kinda high because my first dorm was really a 4 bedroom apartment kind of thing and people couldn't stay in college longer than a month it seemed). Kim beats them all. Sure, she's an early riser, but she's clean, keeps to herself and loves coffee! Not to mention she puts up with me talking in my sleep! ;) I'm so lucky to have her as a roommate, and thankfully, she feels the same way!

The election has come and gone and I'm putting all political comments aside and just simply saying, WOW. The immaturity of those on campus, especially though Facebook has been incredibly disappointing, both republicans and democrats. On the day of the inauguration, I will be out of the country!

Yes, my friends, in 57 days, I will be boarding a plane to Germany, and after a week there, I will be spending over two weeks in……SWITZERLAND!!!! I'm SO excited and you can be sure more updates will come about that.

For the first time since I dropped acting my senior year of high school, I'm in a play. It's a small 10 minute play that a fellow student is directing for a class, and it's a lot of fun. It's with a great group of people, and the dialog is very whitty in a Gilmore Girls sense.

I am also currently writing a 40 page qualitative research analysis on open wheel marketing strategy towards young females. Shockingly enough, the topic was my professors idea--not mine. I didn't want to write about racing at all. But it's coming along really well and I'm definitely getting a ton of feedback through academic journals, interviews, surveys and focus groups. It's definitely going to be interesting.

Three entries in two days?? woah....

So one of my racing ladies just sent this to me as she was getting her son ready for bed...

I seriously think I have the funniest kid on earth. So I'm getting him ready for bed right...I ask him if he brushed his teeth..
"Yes ma'am"
"Ok so if i go in the bathroom I'm going to see evidence of that right?"
Again "Yes Ma'am"....

So I notice that after his shower he has put the same shirt back on.

I say, "Well you need to put on a clean shirt for sleeping"

His response? "Yeah well I've learned how not to do that and still live"

.... BWAHAHAHA ok seriously I tried not to laugh but I couldn't help it I cracked up.

So I then say to him, "Yeah well part of the reason we do that is to help keep the sheets cleaner"
"Yeah well I'm trying to kill some of the bed bugs"
"Oh, I didn't know you had bed bugs"

...and he goes "well with some of the bites I've been getting I must!"

   I haven't posted anything since July?!?! WOW. Where to start??!

Things have been SUPER busy since the summer. Work picked up and classes started--which have been keeping me crazy busy. Not to mention after taking most of the racing season off, I decided I needed to keep myself in the racing scene and went to four races in the past two months, which felt marvelous!! I also went to Nashville to see Jody and Zach then wandered over to Knoxville to see my Grandparents, which was a blast!

I'm having trouble remembering all that's gone on the past few months, so here's some pictures instead!

More pictures from the exciting life of KBru (that was said with intense sarcasm)

Josh (one of our house mates) rescued a baby bird. We named him Mordecai. After tweeting for two days non stop, he died. Stupid bird.

A couple weeks later, Josh rescued a kitten. Someone put him in a cardboard box and set him next to a trash can, where Josh found him. We took him in and he died one day later... I don't even think we named him. He was kinda gross. I'll name him Ech. Stupid cat.

A girlfriend and I decided to hike up the college's official mountain and catch the sunset. We got to the mountain a little late and had to run up it (in 95 degree weather). After losing 60 lbs in sweat, we finally made it to the top just in time to catch the sunset. It was completely worth it.

After sun set, we ran down the mountain as fast as our little legs could carry us in hopes of avoiding doing down in the pitch black. By the time we got down, it was reasonably dark, and we also had a full moon. Here, you can even see Venus above the moon to the right. Sweet, huh??
